Ayomide Taiwo, the 20-year-old fashion designer who was attacked by a policeman in Osogbo has died.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His uncle, Mr. Segun Agboola, confirmed the incident to The Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said Taiwo died around 8am at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo where he was receiving treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was attacked by a police officer attached to the Ibokun Divisional Headquarters, Osun State last Tuesday around 3:30pm at Ilahun community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wasiu Olademeji, who was riding a motorcycle with Taiwo at the time of the incident, said a policeman stopped them and demanded a N50 bribe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said a drunken cop saw a bundle of N50, 000 when Taiwo brought out the money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe drunken policeman suddenly approached us and hit Ayomide\u2019s head with the butt of his rifle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe two of us fell from the motorcycle while the three other policemen ran away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAyomide was lying unconsciously on the floor and was bleeding in his nose, mouth and ears. I carried the bike off him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnother policeman who was not at the scene when it happened helped in carrying my friend to Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAyomide has been in a coma since we took him to the hospital due to severe injury he sustained on his head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe DPO gave us N30, 000 for the hospital bill. Ayomide is the last child of his mother.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agboola said they have not told his mother about his demise because she has been in shock and was receiving treatment in hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t know how to tell her that the last child she celebrated Eid-el-Kabir with some days back, is now dead,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Public Relations Officer, Osun Command, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, said the officer, who brutalised the fashion designer has been dismissed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said: \u201cCommissioner of Police Osun command, Undie Adie, had after receiving the report of the trail committee, recommended the dismissal of the officer to the Inspector General of Police and he has been dismissed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added the officer will be charged to court on Monday for murder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
