The arrest came after South Yorkshire Police said they were\u00a0investigating the circumstances of Johnson\u2019s death<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 which was described as a \u201cfreak accident\u201d by the Panthers \u2014 on Oct. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Johnson was taken by ambulance to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield, where he was pronounced dead following the tragic incident, according to the Sheffield coroner\u2019s report.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n A post-mortem examination confirmed Johnson died as a result of a neck injury, police said. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The incident put increased attention on player safety.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The English Ice Hockey Association announced making neck guards mandatory<\/a> for all players during on-ice activities beginning Dec. 31.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Johnson\u2019s family held public and private memorials<\/a> for him last week in Hibbing, Minn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Johnson\u2019s fiancee, Ryan Wolfe, shared a touching eulogy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHi babe, I want you to know how much I love you and adore you,\u201d Wolfe said. \u201cYou\u2019ve been so amazingly supportive and kind to me since the day we met, and I couldn\u2019t have been more grateful for it. I always thought that maybe if I was lucky enough, after a lifetime together I might start to be more like you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cYou are such a special person. You have the best sense of humor, the biggest heart, the quickest wit and the kindest soul. You\u2019re unbelievably loyal, dedicated and smart. You\u2019re so, so smart. You just seem to have it all figured out, which gave me so much peace and comfort and made me feel like we could do anything or be anything and we\u2019d be OK. We\u2019d be happy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Johnson\u2019s family described him as a \u201cthoughtful, patient and genuinely authentic\u201d person, who loved his fianc\u00e9e, family, and friends above all else\u201d in an\u00a0online obituary<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Johnson\u2019s 62-year-old aunt, Kari Johnson recently told South West News Service<\/a> she believes Petgrave\u2019s actions on the ice were \u201cvery reckless.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
