The Police Command in Ogun has deployed a Special Intervention Squad on the Sagamu\u2013Ijebu Ode\u2013Benin Expressway to check crime incidences along the axis.
CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command\u2019s Spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday.

The police spokesperson added that the incident which happened on Friday, 3 May at 6:55p.m. was incidented as a case of armed robbery, murder and kidnapping.
\u201dWe have information that about seven people with AK 47 suddenly blocked the Benin-Sagamu Expressway.
\u201cThe Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilisan got to the scene of the incident, saw two vehicles pierced with bullets and one other vehicle -Lexus jeep 300 with registration number LND 640 DY, the driver\u2019s name is Chilaka Lugard and another Lexus jeep 350 with registration number LSR 996 JF belonging to Kingsley Chineme.
\u201dInside this Lexus 350 car was found a cross bag with N113,000, two iPhones, an iPhone 6 and iPhone 11 Promax.
\u201cThere was also a corpse of an unidentified man, who was shot in the head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe third vehicle was loaded with plantain and the driver, who was among those abducted but has regained freedom was later allowed to go with the vehicle.
\u201dThe other Lexus vehicles have been taken to Ilisan police station,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Odutola explained that the deployment was in line with the commitment of the command to ensure the safety and security of commuters and residents following a rise in incidents of kidnapping and armed robbery on the highway.
She explained that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, was resolved to end criminal activities on the expressway.
\u201cOn Wednesday, CP Ogunlowo personally inspected the security operations at the newly established intervention post, strategically located before Odogbolu, in between Celplas Industry, Mikano Generator and Ladgroup Company, on the stretch of the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe outpost, consisting of a makeshift roof shed fortified with sandbags, serves as a rapid response centre for distress calls from the Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, and Owode Egba area commands.
\u201cIt also serves as a distress point for commuters who require emergency assistance from the police. This calculated approach is designed to complement other security pin-down points along the expressway, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
\u201cKey security deployments include two OP MESA security points positioned inward and outward Lagos on the Long Bridge.
\u201cShed posts with Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC) at the Sagamu Interchange and the makeshift security posts on the Ijebu Ode\u2013Sagamu Highway to reassure road users of the active presence of armed policemen,\u201d she said.
Odutola further said that the proactive security initiative followed an earlier surveillance operation conducted on February 27, during which the commissioner identified and blocked escape routes frequently used by kidnappers.
She stated that the police command remained resolute in its mission to combat crime and ensure that road users travel without fear or apprehension.
