Anderson’s iconic role as the sexy and smart receptionist Jennifer Marlowe earned her two Emmy Award nominations and three Golden Globe nominations. Her character’s efficiency and charm often kept the struggling radio station running despite the incompetence of others. The show, which aired from 1978 to 1982, was set in a flagging Ohio radio station trying to reinvent itself with rock music and featured a talented ensemble cast, including Gary Sandy, Tim Reid, Howard Hesseman, Frank Bonner, and Jan Smithers.
Anderson’s career spanned over five decades, with early guest roles on popular TV shows like “S.W.A.T.” and “Police Woman.” She also appeared in several made-for-TV movies, including “A Letter to Three Wives” and “White Hot: The Mysterious Murder of Thelma Todd.” Her film credits include the 1983 comedy “Stroker Ace,” alongside her then-husband Burt Reynolds. The couple’s tumultuous marriage was often splashed across tabloids before their messy breakup in 1994.
