Speaking in Kano after a meeting with a coalition of traders, Amaechi said there would be \u201cno retreat, no surrender\u201d in his political ambition, insisting that he would not step aside for any aspirant in the party.<br><br>In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, Amaechi reaffirmed his resolve to run in the ADC presidential primary, expressing confidence that, by God\u2019s grace, he would win and face President Bola Tinubu in the general election. \u201cI am not stepping down for anyone. Let the people decide who they want to lead,\u201d he stated, adding that internal competition was essential for deepening democracy within the party.<br><br>The former minister also delivered a scathing assessment of the Tinubu administration, claiming that Nigerians across regions were disillusioned with government policies and direction. According to him, Tinubu\u2019s leadership has failed to promote inclusivity, with appointments allegedly skewed to favour only a few close associates. \u201cNigerians are tired because no one is happy under Tinubu, not even in Rivers or across the South. He frames it as a North-South contest, but the truth is people are suffering everywhere,\u201d Amaechi said.<br><br>When asked about possible zoning arrangements within the ADC, Amaechi said he would abide by the party\u2019s decision but stressed that he remained firmly in the race. He further described himself as one of the most prepared candidates, arguing that his candidacy could unify diverse regions of the country. \u201cIf you look at all those aspiring, including Tinubu, tell me honestly, who is better prepared than I am? My candidacy offers unity,\u201d he declared.<br><br>Although some analysts have suggested that Amaechi\u2019s political influence has diminished in Rivers State due to the dominance of his long-time rival, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, he dismissed such views.
