{"id":17575,"date":"2025-08-29T11:51:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T11:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.funminews.com\/?p=17575"},"modified":"2025-08-29T12:05:17","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T12:05:17","slug":"fg-unveils-trcn-digital-portal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.funminews.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/29\/fg-unveils-trcn-digital-portal\/","title":{"rendered":"FG unveils TRCN digital portal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The federal government has unveiled a new digital portal developed by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), aimed at transforming the teaching profession through technology and innovation.<br \/><br \/>Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the UBEC Digital Resource Centre in Abuja on Monday, the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, described the initiative as a \u201cdefining moment\u201d in Nigeria\u2019s education sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis event is not just another ceremony or launch of a platform,\u201d she said. \u201cIt is a defining moment in our collective journey to reposition the Nigerian teaching profession for the demands of the 21st century.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Ahmad said the portal aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ministry\u2019s commitment to human capital development and digitization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digitalization is no longer optional. It is the language of global competitiveness, innovation, and efficiency,\u201d she said. \u201cWe cannot build the Nigeria of our dreams with analogue systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She noted that the portal would ensure seamless registration and licensing of teachers nationwide, provide a credible database of qualified professionals, and enable real-time access to professional development opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are saying to every teacher in Nigeria: We see you. We value you. We are committed to supporting you,\u201d she added<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also speaking, Ian Attfield, Senior Education Advisor at the British High Commission, commended TRCN\u2019s strategic vision and the diversity of Nigeria\u2019s teaching workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of different types of teachers\u2014volunteers, faith-based educators, and those in low-cost private schools,\u201d he said. \u201cThese systems need to be integrated, smart, and motivating.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attfield said the UK government, through the FCDO programme, has supported TRCN in developing the portal and remains committed to helping Nigeria build cohesive data systems across its education agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a Herculean task to pull that all together cohesively,\u201d he said. \u201cBut certainly, the UK government stands behind Nigeria to be able to do this effectively over the next couple of years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minister commended TRCN\u2019s Registrar, Dr. Ronke, and her team for their resilience and commitment to excellence, describing the portal as a \u201cstatement of trust\u201d and a pledge to restore dignity to the teaching profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also reaffirmed the Ministry\u2019s full support for TRCN\u2019s digital transformation journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/trcn.gov.ng\/\">https:\/\/trcn.gov.ng\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The federal government has unveiled a new digital portal developed by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), aimed at transforming the teaching profession through technology and innovation.
