Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Nigerian Senate, and several state governors have joined dignitaries across the country to celebrate the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 65th birthday. The tributes poured in on Sunday, September 21, 2025, highlighting her compassion, service to humanity, and significant contributions to nation-building.
In a statement titled \u201cCelebrating 65 Years of Grace, Service and Compassion,\u201d Vice President Shettima described Mrs. Tinubu as \u201can inestimable mother of the nation\u201d whose devotion to motherhood, philanthropy, and public service has strengthened the Tinubu administration and touched lives nationwide. His wife, Nana Shettima, praised the First Lady\u2019s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) for redefining women\u2019s leadership and inspiring a generation of young Nigerians.
The Senate, led by its President Godswill Akpabio, also eulogized Mrs. Tinubu as a \u201cpillar of love and strength\u201d whose humanitarian and political legacy transcends gender and politics. From the states, the Northern Governors Forum led by Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya lauded Mrs. Tinubu as a \u201csymbol of dignity and compassion\u201d whose projects have brought succour to women, children, and vulnerable families across Nigeria. Similarly, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo hailed her as \u201can Amazon and a source of inspiration to millions,\u201d citing her deep devotion to God and unwavering service to the nation.
Former Minister of Defence and ex-High Commissioner to Ghana, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, added his voice, describing the First Lady as a dependable support system for President Bola Tinubu and a progressive leader who has redefined the role of Nigeria\u2019s First Lady. He emphasized her contributions to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, also joined in the tributes, commending Mrs. Tinubu for her tireless devotion to children, women, the elderly, and education. He noted that her initiatives, from the New Era Foundation to the RHI, have brought hope and impact to countless Nigerians.
