Lionel Richie\u2019s first marriage blows up<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In \u201cTruly,\u201d the \u201cEndless Love\u201d singer is finally opening up about the controversy that brought his first marriage to a close nearly forty years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

His first wife, Brenda Harvey-Richie, was arrested in June 1988 after she confronted Richie and his Diane Alexander, who would become his second wife, at Alexander\u2019s Beverly Hills apartment in the middle of the night, according to Fox News<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat very few people knew was that Brenda and I were separated,\u201d Richie wrote in his book<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that \u201che was hiding\u201d out at a spot on the beach, wanting to be alone, when he drove into town and stopped by Alexander\u2019s place before he heard \u201ca knock at the door.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
