LAGOS, Nigeria \u2014 Nigerian social media firebrand Very Dark Black Man (VDM) is turning his online clout into commerce, announcing that he will begin importing goods directly from China for sale in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The outspoken influencer, who has built a reputation for his unfiltered commentary on politics and society, told fans in a live video that his next big move is aimed at helping ordinary Nigerians access affordable products without the heavy markups often seen in local markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m not just here to talk \u2014 I\u2019m here to act,\u201d VDM said. \u201cFor too long, Nigerians have been exploited by middlemen. I want to bring quality goods straight from China and sell them here at fair prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

With over a million followers across platforms, VDM has long been a trending figure in Nigeria\u2019s online entertainment space. His shift into trade, however, signals how influencers are beginning to leverage their fame beyond content creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPeople trust me because I say things the way they are,\u201d he said. \u201cNow I want that same honesty to reflect in business. When I say my products are affordable and authentic, Nigerians can believe it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Reactions from Followers and Critics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fans have welcomed the announcement with excitement. One Twitter user wrote, \u201cVDM doing what no influencer has done \u2014 making sure we get things cheaper without all the middlemen. Respect!\u201d Another commented, \u201cIf VDM can deliver quality products from China, this is going to change the game for online shoppers in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Critics, however, urged caution. Business analyst Chike Obi said, \u201cThe plan is ambitious, but importing goods comes with serious challenges. Customs delays, tariffs, and quality control are not trivial. VDM will need a solid logistics and regulatory plan.\u201d Some social media commentators also questioned whether an influencer can handle the complexity of international trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, VDM remains confident, saying:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is not just about selling items,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s about proving that an influencer can stand up for his people in more ways than one. I\u2019m ready to take that responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
