In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidency clarified that Edun\u2019s temporary absence from public events was strictly for medical reasons and had nothing to do with any administrative or political issues. Ngelale noted that the minister has been receiving adequate medical care and is expected to resume full official engagements shortly.
\u201cThe Honourable Minister is in good spirits and responding positively to treatment. There is absolutely no consideration or discussion within the Presidency about replacing him,\u201d Ngelale said. \u201cThe President holds Mr. Edun in high regard for his competence, loyalty, and dedication to the ongoing economic reforms.\u201d
Reports had earlier circulated on social media and some online platforms alleging that the Presidency was secretly considering a replacement due to concerns about Edun\u2019s health.
