Emma, 47, who had been his primary caregiver, said their daughters\u2014Mabel Ray, 13, and Evelyn Penn, 11\u2014are coping as best they can but are deeply affected by their father\u2019s absence. \u201cThey grieve. They miss their dad so much. He\u2019s missing important milestones, that\u2019s tough for them,\u201d she said. \u201cI think they\u2019re doing well, all things considered. But it\u2019s hard. I don\u2019t know if my kids will ever bounce back. But they\u2019re learning, and so am I\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also addressed criticism from online trolls who questioned her decision to move Bruce out of their home. Emma defended the move as necessary for his care and safety, saying, \u201cToo often, caregivers are judged quickly and unfairly. This was the hardest decision, but it was the right one for Bruce\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the emotional strain, Emma emphasized the resilience of their children. \u201cKids are resilient,\u201d she said, though she admitted that phrase used to frustrate her. \u201cPeople didn\u2019t understand what we were walking through\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
