He accused stakeholders of failing to deliver safe, nutritious, and sustainable food to Nigerians \u2014 especially the poor and vulnerable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cFood and nutrition insecurity remain among the most pressing development challenges in Nigeria,\u201d Ogunmoyela said. \u201cDespite all the noise about productivity and fortification, millions still suffer from hunger, poor-quality food, and rising prices that make balanced diets a luxury.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"806\" height=\"440\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?fit=806%2C440&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21083\" style=\"width:701px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?w=806&amp;ssl=1 806w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?resize=300%2C164&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?resize=768%2C419&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?resize=769%2C420&amp;ssl=1 769w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/image-135.png?resize=696%2C380&amp;ssl=1 696w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The professor of Food Science and Technology at Bells University of Technology didn\u2019t mince words, describing Nigeria\u2019s food landscape as \u201cfragmented, inequitable, and dangerously underregulated.\u201d He warned that environmental pressures and limited dietary diversity are pushing the country toward a nutritional crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Ogunmoyela also criticized the lack of transparency in food labeling and the slow pace of fortification programs, calling on regulators to stop \u201cprotecting manufacturers at the expense of consumers.\u201d He urged Nigerians to hold producers accountable and demand higher standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cBetter foods are not just about health \u2014 they\u2019re about national survival,\u201d he said. \u201cWe cannot build a future on empty calories and contaminated supply chains.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">CAFSANI reaffirmed its commitment to empowering consumers through advocacy, research, and policy engagement, but warned that without political will and grassroots pressure, Nigeria\u2019s food system will continue to fail its people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cEvery meal should nourish, not endanger. Every policy should protect, not placate.
