CINCINNATI (FN)<\/strong> \u2014 A man is facing serious criminal charges after allegedly impersonating a SWAT officer during a TikTok prank at Great American Ball Park, including an incident involving a frightened 13-year-old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justin Simmons was arrested and charged with kidnapping and impersonating a police officer stemming from the Sept. 23 incident, prosecutors said. According to authorities, Simmons wore what appeared to be a law enforcement uniform, used a walkie-talkie, and told individuals at the stadium he was taking them into custody \u2014 all as part of a recorded prank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the alleged victims was a child who prosecutors said appeared visibly scared and confused during the encounter. Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor Caitlyn Andrews told the court that Simmons “did all the things to represent law enforcement”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simmons\u2019 defense attorney acknowledged the prank was inappropriate but said it did not warrant felony charges. He noted that Simmons was unarmed, wore a fake mustache that was visibly falling off, and has since taken down the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere was never any intent to harm or truly deceive anyone into thinking they were under arrest by real police,\u201d the attorney said in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, prosecutors argue the incident crossed a line, particularly because it took place in a crowded public venue and involved a minor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simmons remains in custody pending a bond hearing. If convicted, he could face multiple years in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TikTok and other social media platforms have faced increasing scrutiny over prank videos that blur legal and ethical boundaries. Local authorities said this case underscores how such stunts can quickly turn into criminal investigations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
