ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) \u2014 President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Sir Ademola Osinubi, former Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of PUNCH Nigeria Limited, in celebration of his 70th birthday, describing him as a towering figure in Nigerian journalism whose career helped shape the country\u2019s media landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released Sunday and personally signed by the president, Tinubu praised Osinubi\u2019s decades-long commitment to editorial integrity, democratic values, and journalistic excellence. \u201cYou are proof that success is attainable with purpose and vision,\u201d Tinubu wrote, reflecting on Osinubi\u2019s rise from entry-level reporter to the top editorial post at one of Nigeria\u2019s most influential newspapers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Osinubi joined PUNCH in 1976 and spent 27 years at the helm of the organization, overseeing its transformation into a leading voice in Nigerian media. Tinubu credited Osinubi with steering the newspaper through turbulent political eras, including periods of military rule marked by censorship and press crackdowns. \u201cYou led PUNCH through innovation and adversity, leaving an indelible mark on the profession,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
