LAGOS, Nigeria \u2014 United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has inducted more than 700 young professionals into its workforce through the United Bank for Africa (GMAP), a leadership initiative aimed at developing the next generation of African business leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The induction ceremony, held at the Landmark Events Centre in Lagos, marked the 2025 graduation of GMAP participants. Since its launch three years ago, the program has trained over 4,000 professionals across banking and finance, offering mentorship, skills development and hands-on experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu addressed the graduates, encouraging them to uphold the bank\u2019s core values of excellence, integrity and service. He referred to the inductees as \u201clions and lionesses,\u201d and emphasized the bank\u2019s commitment to empowering young Africans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are happy to have you as part of this tribe,\u201d Elumelu said. \u201cI started out just like you, and I am proud that UBA continues to provide opportunities for young Africans to grow. Remember your purpose and stay driven \u2014 we must show the world that African institutions can be globally respected.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputy Group Managing Director Chukwuma Nweke, representing Group Managing Director Oliver Alawuba, urged the graduates to be innovators and ambassadors of UBA\u2019s legacy. The new inductees join a workforce of more than 30,000 employees across 20 African countries and key global financial hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduate Ayomitide Ebo described the program as \u201crigorous but transformative,\u201d while Mary Olatibosun said joining UBA fulfilled a lifelong dream. Rosemary Morioki, a participant from Kenya, added, \u201cIt has been intense but rewarding. We are ready to bring our innovative ideas to drive Africa\u2019s global bank forward.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
