ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) \u2014 An 18-year-old Nigerian, Muhammad Aminu Sani, has become one of the youngest licensed commercial pilots in the nation\u2019s history, earning widespread praise from government officials, aviation authorities and citizens across the country.
Sani completed his flight training at an accredited aviation academy, earning his commercial pilot license after months of rigorous coursework and in-flight assessments. His achievement has quickly drawn national attention as a symbol of youth determination and excellence.
Sani\u2019s father, Alhaji Aminu Sani, said the milestone was the result of years of discipline and focus. \u201cMuhammad has dreamed of becoming a pilot since childhood,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are proud to see that dream come true through hard work and faith.\u201d
His mother added that the family remained confident in his ability from the start. \u201cHe was always fascinated by airplanes,\u201d she said. \u201cWe believed in him even when others thought it was too ambitious for his age.\u201d
Nigeria\u2019s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, congratulated Sani in a statement Thursday, describing him as \u201ca symbol of the new generation of skilled Nigerian aviators.\u201d
\u201cThe federal government is proud of this achievement and remains committed to supporting young Nigerians who aspire to excel in aviation and other technical fields,\u201d Keyamo said.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority also praised the young pilot, saying his accomplishment proves the potential of Nigeria\u2019s aviation education system. \u201cMuhammad\u2019s success shows what our youth can achieve when given the right opportunities,\u201d said NCAA Director-General Musa Nuhu.
Sani\u2019s story has sparked excitement across social media, with thousands of Nigerians hailing him as an inspiration. \u201cAt 18, he\u2019s already flying planes \u2014 that\u2019s the kind of motivation our youth need,\u201d one X user wrote.
Others called on the government to expand aviation scholarships and training programs, saying Sani\u2019s success highlights the untapped potential among Nigerian youths.
