LAGOS, Nigeria (<\/strong>FN)<\/strong> \u2014 Nigerian billionaire and entertainment mogul Obi Iyiegbu<\/strong>, popularly known as Obi Cubana<\/strong>, says he plans to retire from active business within the next decade \u2014 a move he says will allow him to enjoy life\u2019s finer pleasures with his family.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with social media personality OneJoblessBoy<\/strong>, shared on Saturday, the 50-year-old entrepreneur revealed that he intends to retire at age 60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy 60, I should be done with active business,\u201d<\/em> he said. \u201cI want to travel the world, live quietly, and give my wife the best experiences life has to offer. I\u2019ve worked hard, and I want to enjoy what I\u2019ve built.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iyiegbu, best known for his hospitality empire Cubana Group<\/strong>, said his current focus is on building a sustainable legacy that will outlive him. \u201cI\u2019m not just building businesses \u2014 I\u2019m building structures that will last and empower my children to be financially independent,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His wife, Ebele Iyiegbu<\/strong>, who is also a lawyer and philanthropist, praised his decision, calling it \u201ca mark of wisdom and self-awareness.\u201d<\/em> She said, \u201cHe has given so much to his businesses and community. Economist Dr. Uche Anene<\/strong>, however, noted that such retirement goals are rare among Nigerian entrepreneurs. \u201cMost business leaders here work until their health fails. Obi Cubana\u2019s plan to transition early shows a maturing business culture that prioritizes succession and sustainability,\u201d<\/em> she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iyiegbu, who gained national fame in 2021 after hosting an extravagant funeral for his mother in Oba, Anambra State, has since expanded his portfolio into real estate, entertainment, and luxury lifestyle ventures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family members told reporters that the businessman has already begun delegating some operational roles within the Cubana Group<\/strong> to trusted executives and family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
