ABUJA, Nigeria (FN)<\/strong> \u2014 First Lady Remi Tinubu<\/strong> has donated seven 18-seater hybrid compressed natural gas (CNG) buses to the Youth Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), aiming to enhance the mobility and outreach of Christian youths nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The buses were presented Saturday at the National Christian Centre during YOWICAN\u2019s national convention, themed \u201cShine Bright: Reflecting God\u2019s Glory.\u201d<\/em> The event drew church leaders, youth representatives, clergy, and government officials from across Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belusochukwu Enwere<\/strong>, national chairman of YOWICAN, described the buses as \u201csymbols of hope, empowerment, and commitment to enabling the youth to spread the message of love, unity, and progress across Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Onaiyekan<\/strong>, praised the initiative, saying it would \u201cequip young people to carry faith-driven programs to remote communities and strengthen the moral foundation of our society.\u201d He added that the donation reflects a commitment to youth empowerment and national cohesion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pastor Samuel Ojo<\/strong>, a senior clergy member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, lauded the first lady\u2019s gesture as \u201ca practical investment in the future of Nigeria\u2019s Christian youth,\u201d noting that transportation challenges often limit outreach and community engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremony, Enwere drew attention to persistent attacks on Christians in northern Nigeria, describing the situation as a \u201csombre reality that demands urgent government action.\u201d He called on authorities to protect lives, prosecute perpetrators, and ensure that all Nigerians can worship freely without fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other attendees, including youth leaders and representatives of interdenominational councils, echoed these concerns, urging coordinated action to address religious violence while commending the first lady for her support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enwere emphasized that the buses would be used to expand evangelism, peacebuilding, and national development programs. \u201cWith these vehicles, we can reach more communities, promote understanding, and embody the love and forgiveness taught by Jesus Christ,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first lady\u2019s donation has been hailed as a model for private-public collaboration in youth empowerment, faith-based initiatives, and community development.
