Abuja, Nigeria (FN) \u2014 Assistant Inspector-General of Police Nkechi Eze has been appointed as the first Director of the newly established Directorate of Force Medical Services, the Nigeria Police Force announced Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointment follows the upgrade of the Police Medical Section to a full-fledged directorate, a move aimed at improving healthcare delivery for police personnel across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Force spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the new directorate will provide more comprehensive and efficient medical services nationwide. He described Eze as a seasoned clinician and administrator with over 27 years of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Umuahia, Abia State, and originally from Agbudu in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Eze holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and a Master\u2019s in Public Health from the University of Benin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her career has spanned medical postings in Oyo, Ekiti, Rivers, the Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos, where she played key roles in improving officer welfare and healthcare infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun congratulated Eze and urged her to use her experience to make the directorate a model of excellence. Reactions to the appointment have been largely positive. A senior officer in the Lagos Command described Eze\u2019s selection as \u201clong overdue,\u201d praising her blend of medical expertise and institutional knowledge.
