LAGOS, Nigeria (FN) \u2014 Foluke Adeboye, wife of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye, says her family narrowly escaped tragedy on New Year\u2019s Day after receiving a gift of poisoned food \u2014 a meal she believes was intended to harm them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to church members in a video message, the 77-year-old cleric said she felt uneasy about the food, which had been delivered to their home among other festive gifts. Acting on instinct, she instructed that the meal be given to their dogs instead. One of the dogs died shortly after consuming it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI just entered into the kitchen and asked who owned this food,\u201d Adeboye said. \u201cThey said a person brought it. I looked at the food and asked them to give it to the dogs.\u201d Within an hour, she said, the gateman returned with the news: the dog had died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident has sparked concern and reflection among church members, clergy, and the wider public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family members also expressed gratitude and concern. A relative, who asked not to be named, said, \u201cWe\u2019re still processing what happened. It\u2019s painful to think that someone could target our family like this. But we thank God for divine protection.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security experts have urged public figures to strengthen household protocols during high-traffic seasons. \u201cThis incident underscores the need for controlled access and food safety measures,\u201d said Dr. Lanre Adebayo, a Lagos-based security consultant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
