\u201cChina maintains its position on halting nuclear tests,\u201d Mao stated. \u201cOur strategic posture is defensive, and our doctrine prohibits initiating nuclear conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump\u2019s assertion came as he announced a directive for the Pentagon to resume nuclear testing, a move that would end a three-decade pause in full-scale detonations. The U.S. has not conducted such tests since 1992, though it has performed subcritical experiments that do not produce nuclear explosions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Without presenting evidence, Trump claimed other nations were violating the moratorium. \u201cRussia\u2019s testing, and China\u2019s testing, but they don\u2019t talk about it,\u201d he said during a CBS interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
