The doctors are demanding payment of salary arrears, improved working conditions, and full implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Following Tinubu\u2019s instruction, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare announced that N11.995 billion will be disbursed within 72 hours to settle outstanding accoutrement allowances owed to doctors and other health workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"307\" height=\"350\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/National-Association-of-Resident-Doctors.jpg?fit=307%2C350&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-23363\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/National-Association-of-Resident-Doctors.jpg?w=307&amp;ssl=1 307w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/National-Association-of-Resident-Doctors.jpg?resize=263%2C300&amp;ssl=1 263w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 307px) 100vw, 307px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cPresident Tinubu has mandated us to ensure that doctors return to work without delay,\u201d said Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, during a press briefing in Abuja. \u201cWe are committed to resolving this crisis swiftly and sustainably.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Despite the federal intervention, resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (ARD-FCTA) have declared a separate indefinite strike, citing unmet local demands. The group said its action would continue even if NARD suspends its own strike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In a letter titled \u201cA Passionate Appeal to the Commander-in-Chief of the Federation,\u201d NARD had earlier urged Tinubu to intervene, warning that Nigeria\u2019s health system was \u201con the verge of collapse.\u201d The association listed 19 unresolved issues, including delayed salaries and poor welfare packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">While the government\u2019s financial response has been welcomed by some, NARD leaders remain cautious. \u201cWe appreciate the gesture, but our demands go beyond payments,\u201d said NARD President Dr. Dele Abdullahi. \u201cWe need structural reforms and a clear timeline for implementation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Doctors have also voiced skepticism on social media. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen promises before,\u201d one user wrote. \u201cUntil we see lasting change, we\u2019re not backing down.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Ministry of Health has urged all striking doctors to resume work, assuring that negotiations will continue. However, NARD has not officially suspended its strike, pending further consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The strike has raised concerns about the state of Nigeria\u2019s healthcare system, with patients facing delays and limited access to care.
