ABUJA, Nigeria (FN) \u2014 Nigerian Sen. Ned Nwoko has accused individuals close to his wife, actress Regina Daniels, of exploiting her health condition to blackmail him and damage his reputation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released Monday by his Communication and Technical Action Team, Nwoko alleged that a \u201csyndicate of pull-down-Ned\u201d group is using Daniels\u2019 personal struggles to criminalize him before the international community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey are using a young woman who is unwell and has admitted to using drugs to criminalize me,\u201d Nwoko said. \u201cThis is a coordinated gang-up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The senator, who represents Delta North in the National Assembly, claimed that Daniels\u2019 history of substance use predates their marriage and is documented in medical records and online testimonies. He further alleged that some individuals, including her mother, Uche Nancy, and actress Uche Montana, interfered with Daniels\u2019 rehabilitation by supplying her with drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Montana has denied the allegations, calling them \u201cfalse and malicious\u201d in a statement posted to Instagram. Nancy has not publicly responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nwoko also addressed speculation about the timeline of his marriage, stating that Daniels was 19 years old at the time of their union, not 17 as some reports have claimed. He said the marriage was conducted publicly and with the full support of her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOur customs and traditions do not frown upon polygamy,\u201d Nwoko said. \u201cI married her honorably, gave her a name, and treated her with dignity.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
