{"id":24646,"date":"2025-11-18T11:31:18","date_gmt":"2025-11-18T10:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.funminews.com\/?p=24646"},"modified":"2025-11-18T11:47:52","modified_gmt":"2025-11-18T10:47:52","slug":"kebbi-governor-pledges-swift-rescue-of-25-abducted-schoolgirls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.funminews.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/18\/kebbi-governor-pledges-swift-rescue-of-25-abducted-schoolgirls\/","title":{"rendered":"Kebbi Governor Pledges Swift Rescue of 25 Abducted Schoolgirls"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"\">Maga, Kebbi State \u2014 Governor Nasir Idris has pledged that his administration is fully committed to rescuing the 25 students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Speaking to journalists on Monday after meeting with security agencies, traditional rulers, parents and other stakeholders, Idris described the incident as \u201cdeeply unfortunate\u201d and condemned the killing of the school\u2019s vice principal during the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\u201cThe unfortunate incident has already occurred, and we came to see things for ourselves,\u201d he said. \u201cWe met with the parents whose children were abducted to give them confidence and to assure them that we will do everything possible to ensure the safe rescue of their children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The governor explained that his visit was intended to assess the situation firsthand, console affected families and boost public confidence. \u201cWe have also urged them to remain confident, as the security agencies are doing the needful. That is the essence of coming to Maga, to support our people, give them encouragement, and strengthen their hope,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"http:\/\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/governor-IDRIS.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">video from AIT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The attack, which took place in the early hours of Monday, left the school\u2019s vice principal dead and saw armed bandits seize 25 students before fleeing into nearby forests. Security operatives have since been deployed to track the perpetrators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Parents of the abducted girls expressed anguish and fear. One father told reporters, \u201cWe cannot sleep, we cannot eat. Every hour feels like a year until our daughters return.\u201d A mother broke down in tears, saying, \u201cWe sent our children to school to learn, not to be taken away. We beg the government, please bring them back alive.\u201d Another parent added, \u201cWe are living in fear. This is not the first time schools have been attacked in Kebbi. We want action, not just promises.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Local residents said the attack has thrown the community into mourning. A teacher at the school remarked, \u201cWe are devastated. Our students are our children, and their absence is unbearable.\u201d Traditional rulers in the area urged the government to intensify security patrols, warning that repeated attacks could force more schools to shut down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">National and international reactions have added pressure. Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria\u2019s former vice president, said he was \u201cdevastated\u201d by the abduction and called for stronger measures against insecurity. U.S. Congressman Riley Moore noted that the attack occurred in a Christian enclave and urged global attention to violence against civilians in northern Nigeria.
