KYIV, Ukraine (FN) \u2014 Ukraine on Tuesday rejected Russia\u2019s claim that it launched a drone attack on one of President Vladimir Putin\u2019s residences, calling the allegation fabricated and accusing Moscow of using the incident to harden its position in ongoing peace negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga said Russia had produced \u201cno plausible evidence\u201d to support its accusation. \u201cAlmost a day passed and Russia still hasn\u2019t provided any plausible evidence to its accusations of Ukraine\u2019s alleged \u2018attack on Putin\u2019s residence.\u2019 And they won\u2019t. Because there\u2019s none. No such attack happened,\u201d Sybiga wrote on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kremlin dismissed Ukraine\u2019s denial, insisting the incident occurred and accusing Kyiv and Western media of attempting to downplay it. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia should not be expected to present evidence because all drones were intercepted before reaching the alleged target. He called efforts to question the claim \u201cinsane.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dispute comes at a critical moment in the nearly four\u2011year war, as Ukraine says it has accepted about 90 percent of a U.S.-drafted peace plan that includes post\u2011war security guarantees. Russia has resisted the proposal, saying it does not meet its broader territorial and political demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peskov said the alleged drone incident would force Moscow to \u201ctoughen\u201d its negotiating stance. \u201cAs for the military consequences, our military knows how, with what, and when to respond,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
