CONAKRY, Guinea (FN)<\/strong> \u2014 Hollywood actors Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors have been granted Guinean citizenship after DNA tests traced their ancestry to the West African nation, officials announced during a private ceremony in the capital on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good, 44, and Majors, 36, received their Guinean passports at Gbassi Kolo, a cultural and tourism center outside Conakry, where government representatives acting on behalf of President Mamadi Doumbouya welcomed the couple as \u201cworthy sons and daughters of Guinea\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Djiba Diakit\u00e9, chief of staff to the presidency, presented the passports and praised the pair for their global influence. \u201cYou represent our country, the red\u2011yellow\u2011green flag, all over the world,\u201d he said during the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The couple, who are traveling through Guinea for the first time, said the honor deepened their connection to the African diaspora. Majors told BBC News that the recognition would help \u201cbridge the gap\u201d between their lives as entertainers and their ancestral roots. Good added that they \u201ccould absolutely see ourselves having a home here\u201d as they build long\u2011term ties to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony featured traditional music and dance, part of a broader cultural initiative aimed at reconnecting African nations with members of the global Black diaspora. Several West African countries, including Sierra Leone and Ghana, have launched similar programs encouraging descendants of enslaved Africans to reclaim citizenship or ancestral identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Majors, once considered one of Hollywood\u2019s rising stars, has faced legal and public scrutiny in the United States following a 2023 altercation with a former girlfriend. Despite the controversy, Guinean officials emphasized cultural heritage and unity during the event, focusing on the couple\u2019s ancestral connection rather than their recent challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
