The Federal Government has approved a 100% Duty Tour Allowance for civil servants attending official training programs, part of a broader package of welfare reforms aimed at boosting productivity and morale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson\u2011Jack, announced the measures Thursday, saying the allowance will apply to workers attending courses at institutions such as the Public Service Institute of Nigeria, the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, and six Federal Training Centres across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said the approval means civil servants will receive full duty tour payments whether or not travel is involved, removing financial barriers to professional development. The government also reviewed peculiar allowances for officers under the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure and the Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other entitlements, including estacode and book allowances, were increased to reflect current economic realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reforms extend beyond allowances. Treasury\u2011funded civil servants under the Contributory Pension Scheme will now receive 100% of their annual emoluments as additional retirement benefits, effective January 1, 2026. The Employees\u2019 Compensation Scheme has also been operationalized to provide support for work\u2011related injuries, disability, or death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the government launched a \u20a610 billion housing loan fund through the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Government Staff Housing Loans Board to improve access to home ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
