Nigeria\u2019s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) says its presidential primary election for the 2027 polls will go ahead as scheduled on May 23, 2026, dismissing reports of a postponement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

National publicity secretary Felix Morka said in a statement Wednesday that claims circulating on social media about changes to the timetable were false. \u201cThis clarification has become necessary following the circulation of false and misleading reports on social media and other communication platforms suggesting otherwise,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the revised calendar, the sale of nomination forms began April 25 and closed May 2. Completed forms were submitted by May 4, with screening of aspirants for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and Governorship held between May 6 and May 8. Presidential aspirants faced the screening panel on May 9, and results were published May 11. Appeals were heard May 12 and 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primary elections are scheduled to roll out in sequence: House of Representatives on May 15, Senate on May 18, State House of Assembly on May 20, Governorship on May 21, and the Presidential primary on May 23. Post-primary appeal committees will sit immediately after each contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
