Brian Ogbo, 39, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of his grandmother, 82-year-old Stella Nnadi, at the family home in Carrigaline, County Cork, on February 23, 2025. He was sentenced to five years, with the final 18 months suspended, and ordered to continue psychiatric treatment and probation supervision after his release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judge Sinead Behan told the Cork Circuit Criminal Court that Ogbo was \u201cin the obvious throes of a psychotic episode\u201d when the attack occurred. Ogbo, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2017, had missed two monthly injections of anti-psychotic medication after moving to Ireland in late 2024.
