ABUJA (FN)<\/strong> \u2014 The Federal Government has extended warm greetings to Muslims across Nigeria and the world as they mark Eid-el-Adha, urging citizens to embrace unity, sacrifice, and compassion while praying for the nation\u2019s peace and progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement issued Wednesday, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris described the festival as a sacred season that reflects the timeless example of faith and obedience shown by Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He called on Nigerians to use the occasion to deepen national unity and strengthen peaceful coexistence across ethnic, religious, and political lines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEid al-Adha is a season that calls for reflection, unity, tolerance, and renewed commitment to the values that bind us together as one nation,\u201d Idris said. He encouraged citizens to continue praying for Nigeria\u2019s stability and reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s commitment to delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to build a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister also appealed to Nigerians to remember the less privileged during the celebration by extending acts of kindness and support to vulnerable members of society. \u201cI encourage Nigerians to use this period to extend love and support to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen the spirit of national unity,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Idris expressed optimism that the blessings of Eid would usher peace, joy, and prosperity into homes across the country, while praying that Allah accepts the prayers and sacrifices of the faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eid-el-Adha, also known as the \u201cFestival of Sacrifice,\u201d is one of the most significant events in Islam. It commemorates Prophet Ibrahim\u2019s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God\u2019s command, before a ram was provided as a substitute. The festival is marked by prayers, charity, and acts of sacrifice, with millions of Muslims across Nigeria preparing to celebrate by sharing meals, supporting the needy, and gathering with family and community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
