He was celebrated for his commanding presence in Nollywood films, often portraying traditional roles such as Igwe and Onowu. His artistry extended beyond acting; he was also a singer, dancer, and choreographer, remembered by colleagues and students as a \u201ctotal artiste.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actor Ken Erics confirmed the news in a heartfelt tribute, recalling that he had spoken with Okoye just a day before his passing. \u201cThis one hits hard because we spoke barely 24 hours before your demise, and you were hale and hearty,\u201d Erics wrote. He described Okoye as a mentor who encouraged him to pursue Theatre Arts and nurtured raw talents into stars. \u201cThis man nurtured raw talents and made stars, many of whom are doing well in the entertainment space,\u201d he added. He was a motivator, a teacher, and a friend who introduced many to music production, inspired soundtracks, and brought energy to every rehearsal. \u201cGood night, Energy! Good night, Patosky! Good night, the Shimmer Master!! Rest well as you journey through the chthonic realm,\u201d Erics wrote in his farewell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okoye\u2019s career spanned collaborations with Nollywood greats including Patience Ozokwor, Osita Iheme, Chinedu Ikedieze, Rita Arum, and Yul Edochie. His film credits include <em>Midnight Love<\/em>, <em>Old School<\/em>, <em>Finding a Wife<\/em>, <em>The Lion<\/em>, <em>The Jagaban<\/em>, and <em>Over My Dead Body.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Anambra State, Okoye built a life that straddled academia and entertainment. He mentored generations of students at UNIZIK, many of whom now thrive in Nigeria\u2019s creative industry. His legacy is that of a man who lived fully through art; acting, dancing, singing, and teaching, and who left an indelible mark on Nollywood and the classroom alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Patrick Okoye\u2019s death is being mourned across Nigeria. His passing leaves a void in Nollywood and academia, where he was celebrated not only for his artistry but also for his dedication to nurturing the next generation of performers.
