Nigeria\u2019s anti-corruption agency says it recovered more than 5.79 billion naira ($5.79 billion) in proceeds of crime during the first half of 2026, underscoring the scale of graft that continues to undermine the country\u2019s security and public services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) disclosed the figures in a performance report released Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCash recovered within the review period amounted to N5,789,681,925.02,\u201d the commission said, adding that corruption remains a major obstacle to accountability and national stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials warned that funds meant for critical infrastructure and public programs are being diverted, weakening Nigeria\u2019s ability to respond to security challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
