Three people have been arraigned before the FCT High Court 13 in Abuja over the alleged murder of Adimike Godwin in the Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory. The defendants are Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade. Their arraignment follows the conclusion of a police investigation into the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the FCT Police Command, the case began on May 15, 2026, after officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters received a distress call from one of Godwin’s relatives. The caller reported being unable to reach him and asked police to check on his welfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When detectives arrived at the house, they found Godwin unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed detectives to carry out a full investigation. During the investigation, police arrested five people, including the deceased’s driver and gateman, while they worked to establish what had happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After reviewing the findings, prosecutors charged Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade before the court. The remaining two people who were initially arrested were not included in the charges filed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three defendants are facing charges of criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act. The homicide related charges were brought against all three, while separate charges under the law on same sex civil unions were also filed as contained in the charge sheet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When the case came up, the court adjourned proceedings until Sept. 30, 2026. It also ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the next hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arraignment marks the start of the trial process and not a finding of guilt. Under Nigerian law, the prosecution must present evidence to support the charges, while the defendants have the right to challenge the allegations before the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The FCT Police Command said it remains committed to seeking justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of everyone involved in the case.
