Three people have been rescued after suspected sea robbers attacked a passenger boat along the Oron Calabar waterway in Akwa Ibom State, prompting a swift response from the Nigerian Navy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The attack occurred on Monday when armed men intercepted a commercial boat carrying passengers through the busy coastal route, one of the region’s major waterways linking Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. Witnesses said the assailants forced the boat to stop before robbing those on board of their belongings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nigerian Navy said personnel attached to the Forward Operating Base FOB Ibaka responded immediately after receiving a distress call. Naval officers were deployed to the scene, where they rescued three victims who had been left stranded following the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
