Several senior commanders of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS), one of the main factions of Boko Haram, were reportedly killed after fighters from the rival Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) ambushed them in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno State, according to local security sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clash reportedly occurred near Bula Murge in the Gargash area of Bama Local Government Area, approximately 11 kilometers (7 miles) north of Miyanti and 26 kilometers (16 miles) northeast of Bama, a town that has remained a strategic flashpoint in Nigeria’s long-running insurgency.
