Fresh charges have been filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, where Adeyemi is expected to be re-arraigned, according to Nairametrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that a review by the Attorney-General of the Federation\u2019s office uncovered shortcomings in the charges originally filed by the Inspector-General of Police. He said the alleged offences involving forged documents should be heard by the FCT High Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oyedepo said prosecutors intended to proceed with the fresh arraignment without unnecessary delay. Adeyemi\u2019s lawyer, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application. The order striking out the charges followed the jurisdictional review and did not determine the allegations against Adeyemi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-2026-07-07T200716.879-300x168-1.jpeg?fit=300%2C168&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38098\" style=\"width:657px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-2026-07-07T200716.879-300x168-1.jpeg?w=300&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.funminews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/images-2026-07-07T200716.879-300x168-1.jpeg?resize=285%2C160&amp;ssl=1 285w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The ICPC investigated the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council and reported that Adeyemi\u2019s appointment letter was forged.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adeyemi had pleaded not guilty to all eight counts involving alleged conspiracy and forgery during his September 30 arraignment. At that hearing, the Attorney-General\u2019s office took over the prosecution from the police, and Justice Umar ordered his remand at the Kuje Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His arraignment followed an arrest warrant issued on July 14 after he failed to attend scheduled court proceedings. The case centres on allegations that he operated the PFIPC as a government agency without presidential authorisation, a claim he has repeatedly disputed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Adeyemi previously claimed he borrowed N400 million to secure his appointment as the council\u2019s Director-General, alleging that payments went through intermediaries. He also cited references to the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council in the 2026 Appropriation Act to challenge the Presidency\u2019s position. His allegations against presidential officials have not been substantiated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Bola Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate the purported agency and its appointment documents. In August, the commission reported that it found no legal basis for the PFIPC\u2019s establishment and concluded that Adeyemi\u2019s appointment letter was forged.
