Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion, Nigerian-born New Zealand based Israel Adesanya has tipped fellow countryman, Kamaru Usman for victory as he defends his welterweight title against arch-rival Jorge Masvidal today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UFC 251 battle, which holds on Fight Island, Abu Dhabi, is a fight many fans across the world have been waiting to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kamaru Usman, popularly known as \u2018The Nigerian Nightmare\u2019 is sad his father won\u2019t be at the cage side to watch him. \u201cIt would have meant a lot if he was there with me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His father, Muhammed, was released from prison in Texas in February after serving a 180-month sentence for health care fraud, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fight will hold in an empty arena in Abu Dhabi and Adesanya, who is also preparing to defend his middleweight title later this year, said in a brief message to our correspondent yesterday that Kamaru Usman has all it takes to be victorious in today\u2019s UFC 251 battle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018The Nigerian Nightmare\u2019 vowed yesterday he would \u2018break\u2019 Jorge Masvidal \u2018internally\u2019 when they clash tonight, but he wished his father will be at the cage side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The father had been watching his son in the Octagon on basic cable in jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usman was hoping that this summer he would be there in person, admitting: \u2018Pre-COVID-19 pandemic, this was the culmination of everything I\u2019ve done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued: \u201cThere\u2019s a different fight that you fight with yourself that \u2026 sometimes can get lost in a stadium of 20,000 people. It can uplift you or be a detriment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut now you\u2019ve got a guy beating your ass and talking to you, letting him know his dominance over you. It\u2019s another level of breaking someone mentally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
