A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has issued a fresh ruling mandating two DNA tests to definitively establish the paternity of Liam Aloba, the only child of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The ruling, handed down on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga, followed an application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, who is keen to verify the child’s parentage.

The court specifically ordered that one DNA test be conducted at a recognized facility within Nigeria and another at an accredited hospital abroad. Both parties or their legal representatives must be present during the collection of samples. Crucially, the court authorized the removal of tissue or hair samples from Mohbad’s remains—currently preserved at the Military Hospital in Yaba, Lagos—for this purpose.

In requesting the test, Joseph Aloba, represented by Augustine Adegbemi of Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) & Co., highlighted lingering uncertainties over Liam’s paternity. He emphasized that resolving the issue is essential for determining maintenance obligations and safeguarding the child’s welfare.

The widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba—named as the respondent in the case—did not raise any objections during the proceedings, and the court scheduled the next hearing for November 11, 2025.

Unsurprisingly, the ruling has ignited widespread reaction across social media platforms. One user simply commented, “Na Mohbad Pikin.” Another observed, “After the DNA, what next?” while others weighed in with varying degrees of sarcasm, support, or skepticism.
