Nigerian social media sensation, Ojaigho Prosper, better known by his moniker GehGeh, has addressed the controversy surrounding his bold commentaries on relationships and gender roles. With an impressive following of over 2.7 million on TikTok and more than 936,000 on Instagram, the outspoken influencer insists that only women who rely solely on men for survival feel offended by his videos.
GehGeh, whose sharp takes often ignite heated debates online, traced his resilience and fearless outlook to his humble beginnings. Born and raised in Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, he revealed that life was far from easy. He attended primary school in his hometown before moving to Warri for his secondary education. Coming from a polygamous family, GehGeh explained that financial struggles were part of his daily reality.
“My father was a headmaster and my mother was a farmer. He had two wives, and between them, there were fifteen children. My mother alone had nine, while my stepmother had six. If you compare their modest incomes to the size of the family, you will understand how difficult it was to make ends meet,” he said, adding that those early experiences shaped his determination to push beyond limitations.
According to him, his upbringing taught him to value hard work, independence, and resilience. These values, he argues, are at the core of his content, which emphasizes self-sufficiency, accountability, and the rejection of entitlement. He noted that criticisms of his work usually come from individuals—particularly women—who feel personally attacked because they embody the very behaviors he calls out.
Despite the backlash, GehGeh maintains that his goal is not to degrade women but to challenge unhealthy dependency patterns in modern relationships. “I speak the truth the way it is. A woman who is hardworking and independent will not feel threatened by my videos. It is only those living off men that get upset because they see themselves in the message,” he stressed.
His rise to fame on social media has been attributed to his blunt, unfiltered delivery and his ability to connect with young audiences navigating the complexities of love, money, and social expectations. While critics argue that his style is too confrontational, his growing fanbase suggests that his voice resonates strongly with millions who appreciate his candor.
As GehGeh continues to grow his digital footprint, he says he remains unfazed by critics and committed to spreading what he considers “hard truths.” For him, his journey from a financially challenged background to becoming a recognized voice in Nigeria’s social media space is proof that persistence and originality can carve a path to success.
