Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, opting to remain in Europe amidst intense interest from top clubs. Al-Hilal, recently appointing former Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi as manager, had made Osimhen their top transfer priority ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. The Saudi giants offered a staggering salary worth €120 million over three years, roughly €40 million annually, in a bid to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.
Osimhen’s Decision
Despite the impressive offer, Osimhen declined, choosing to take his time before selecting his next club. According to Foot Mercato, “The offer was quite impressive but ultimately did not convince the player.” This marks the third time Osimhen has rejected Al-Hilal’s advances, having previously turned down offers of €30 million, €35 million, and €45 million per year. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Osimhen rejected the €75 million move to Al-Hilal despite an agreement between Napoli and the Saudi side.
Galatasaray’s Interest
Turkish champions Galatasaray, who benefited from Osimhen’s prolific form during his loan spell, remain determined to sign him permanently. Osimhen scored 37 goals in 41 appearances for Galatasaray, showcasing his impressive skills. The club has tabled a new salary proposal worth €26 million per year, underscoring their desire to retain one of Europe’s most lethal forwards. According to Onyebuchi Onokala, a close source to the player, Galatasaray is “pushing heavy for his signature,” with the release clause reportedly not posing an obstacle for the club.
Future Prospects
Onyebuchi Onokala also revealed that a top Italian club is “keen and ready to pay Victor what he wants in wages.” With Osimhen’s future uncertain, the race for his signature is now open again. Galatasaray will insist on signing him, according to Fabrizio Romano. As the transfer window unfolds, Osimhen’s decision will be closely watched by football fans worldwide.
