A disturbing incident has unfolded at a nightclub in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where three young women have accused a man of physically assaulting them during a night out. The incident, which occurred at the Black Box nightclub, has sparked outrage online after the women shared videos detailing their ordeal.
According to the women, they had booked a table at the club to celebrate a friend’s birthday when the man confronted them, claiming they were recording him without consent. The situation quickly escalated, and the women alleged that the man, accompanied by security personnel, forcefully occupied their space and began breaking bottles. One of the women suffered a bloodied head, another had a broken tooth, and the third was allegedly stripped and thrown down a staircase.
In a video shared online, one of the women showed visible injuries to her scalp, which she said were caused by a bottle allegedly smashed on her head during the altercation. Another woman described the incident, saying, “He said if they born me well, I should sit in the seat I paid for.” She added that the man’s friends started breaking bottles, injuring her friend and breaking her tooth.
The third woman, visibly missing a front tooth in the video, called on human rights groups to intervene, saying, “They need to get those men. Because young girls these days can’t even go out and just be secured.” The women alleged that the man involved was a regular at the club and had previously been accused of similar behavior.
In response to the incident, the founder of Black Box, @datfairboy1, issued a video statement condemning the violence and describing the incident as “pathetic.” He said, “Nobody, no human being, has the right to inflict physical wounds or injury on anybody, especially when nobody was a threat.” He added that he had visited the women in the hospital and also made a formal complaint to security operatives.
The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident, inviting the club’s manager and the alleged suspect for questioning. In a statement, the command said, “Regarding the lady that was assaulted in the club. The DPO within that jurisdiction has expedited action by inviting the hotel manager and the alleged suspect to his office for immediate investigation.” The command also invited the victims to come forward and make their statements.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for justice and accountability. The police investigation is ongoing, and it remains to be seen what actions will be taken against the alleged perpetrator. In the meantime, the women affected are seeking support and justice for the trauma they experienced.
