A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday at the Soka area of the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in Oyo State, resulting in the death of a yet-to-be-identified man. The incident involved a Toyota Camry with Lagos registration number KRD 955 GJ, which collided with a stationary trailer that had been left behind from a previous accident at the same spot.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Toyota Camry was driving at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a roadside culvert before crashing into the trailer. The impact was severe, and the driver died instantly. One eyewitness confirmed that the driver was already dead at the scene.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Oyo State, Rosemary Alo, confirmed the accident and provided details of the incident. She explained that the Toyota Camry was traveling at top speed when it lost control and rammed into the stationary truck parked off the road at the Soka area.
Alo stated that the sole occupant of the vehicle died in the crash and that the police were contacted by passersby, who helped evacuate the corpse to the Adeoyo hospital morgue. The crashed vehicle was later towed to the police station by officers.
The sector commander advised drivers to be conscious of their speed while on the road and to desist from speeding, which can lead to fatal accidents. This incident highlights the importance of safe driving practices and the need for drivers to be vigilant on the road.
