The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing high-quality education in the state. This commitment was underscored during the commissioning of the newly established Model Primary School at Ikot Isong, Etinan Local Government Area. The governor, represented by his Political Adviser, Prince Godwin Udeh, emphasized that his administration’s investment in education is exceptional and a testament to his visionary leadership.

The Model Primary School is a landmark achievement under Governor Eno’s ARISE Agenda, serving as a benchmark for educational excellence and a step towards reducing rural-urban migration. Prince Udeh called on teachers to uphold their roles with diligence and urged the Chairman of the council and stakeholders to maintain the school’s top-tier facilities. The governor also highlighted other impactful projects in the area, including the newly launched Ibom Paint Factory, as symbols of sustainable development.

The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Area, Mr. Uko Umoh, praised the Governor as a promise-keeper, noting his swift return to commission the school barely one month after unveiling the paint factory. Mr. Umoh, a proud alumnus of the institution, announced a donation of 20,000 exercise books to be distributed to schools across the Etinan Council Area, as well as 250 uniforms for pupils of the newly commissioned model school.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ubong Essien, praised the Governor’s educational foresight and detailed the school’s cutting-edge amenities. These include a fully equipped computer lab, an on-site medical clinic, a 500-seat auditorium, a standard football field, furnished apartments for head teachers and staff quarters, and solar-powered systems for uninterrupted energy supply. The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Uko Udom SAN, highlighted the school’s significant history and promised that the Etinan Local Government would reciprocate the Governor’s gesture.

The Paramount Ruler of Etinan, His Royal Majesty Edidem A. M. Akpan Obong, lauded the Governor as a generational thinker, a leader who focuses not on the next election, but on the future of Akwa Ibom’s children. The commissioning and inspection of the facilities installed at the modern Model Primary School was the highlight of the event, showcasing Governor Eno’s commitment to providing quality education and developing the state’s infrastructure.
