The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Iliyasu Musa, for allegedly killing his ex-wife, Hadiza Sale, in Afasha Village, Aujara District. According to the police, Musa ambushed Sale near her house and struck her on the head with a stick as she returned from the market late at night on July 10, 2025. The couple had six children together before their separation. Musa, who hails from Dangewaye Village, was apprehended on July 23, 2025, in Larabar-Tambarin-Gwani village, where he had been hiding.
The police said the suspect is currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse, ahead of his prosecution in court. The police spokesperson, Shi’isu Adam, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Dutse, the state capital. The statement did not provide further details on the motive behind the alleged murder.

In a separate incident, the Jigawa State Police Command also arrested a 20-year-old man, Alpha Samaila, in connection with an armed robbery. Samaila and other hoodlums allegedly invaded the residence of one Abubakar Yahaya, broke into his house, physically assaulted him, stabbed him with a sharp object, and stole N170,000 and a Tecno Hot 40i smartphone. The police received a distress call and responded promptly, rushing the victim to the Roni Primary Health Care Centre, where he received medical treatment and was later discharged.
