New Emir Ascends the Throne in Gusau Emirate

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has appointed Abdulkadir Bello as the new Emir of Gusau, following the passing of his father, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, on July 25, 2025. Abdulkadir, who is the eldest son of the late monarch, was elevated to the position as the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate Council. Until his appointment, Abdulkadir held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau.

The Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, disclosed that the appointment was made in accordance with established customs and relevant laws, based on the traditional recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers. This development marks a new chapter in the history of the Gusau Emirate, with Abdulkadir set to lead the emirate with the legacy of his forefathers.

Governor Lawal congratulated the new emir, urging him to uphold the noble legacy of his ancestors. As a direct descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa, the governor called on Abdulkadir to be a symbol of unity, peace, and development.
