Delta State has reaffirmed its readiness to host the 2025 National Youth Games, a prestigious sports festival that brings together the best young talents from across Nigeria. The state’s commitment to delivering a well-organized event was reiterated at the Joint Technical Meeting (JTM) for the ninth National Youth Games, which recently concluded in Asaba.
According to Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Onoriode Oborevwori, the state has completed all necessary preparations to host a befitting event from August 26 to September 6, 2025. The Main Organising Committee (MOC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have inspected and certified facilities and venues, ensuring they meet the required standards for a successful championship.
The build-up to the Games will commence with registration, scheduled to take place from August 16 to 20, 2025. Zonal elimination will follow, taking place between August 16 and 18. The pre-delegates registration meeting (Pre-DRM) will address issues such as correction of athletes’ details, photos, and double registration on August 19 and 20. The Delegates Registration Meeting (DRM) will hold from August 21 to 24.
The main tournament is set to run from August 26 to September 6, 2025, featuring top young athletes from across the country competing for glory and national recognition. Oborevwori emphasized the Commission’s commitment to showcasing Nigeria’s next generation of sports stars while promoting unity, discipline, and excellence through sports.
The Delta State Sports Commission has assured that the event will be well-organized, highlighting the state’s experience in hosting the Games in previous years. With all issues concerning the Games thrashed out at the JTM, Delta State is poised to deliver a memorable experience for athletes, officials, and spectators alike.
