Ose Anenih, son of the late Chief Tony Anenih, former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally resigned from the party, drawing the curtain on his long-standing affiliation with the political platform closely associated with his father’s legacy. His resignation was contained in a letter dated August 18, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Arue Ward 3 in Uromi, Edo State.
In the letter, Anenih explained that the decision followed a period of deep personal reflection and would take effect immediately. He noted that although he had been committed to the PDP “through its triumphs and trials,” he had reached a point in his life where family obligations and other responsibilities demanded his undivided attention. “This decision was not made lightly,” he wrote, emphasizing the weight of stepping back after years of active involvement in partisan politics.
The younger Anenih expressed gratitude for the experiences and friendships gained during his political journey within the PDP, acknowledging the opportunities the party had offered him to serve. However, he clarified that his withdrawal from partisan politics did not signify disengagement from national issues, but rather a redirection of his efforts toward civic discourse and policy advocacy aimed at improving governance and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“My commitment to Nigeria’s progress remains unshaken. I will continue to contribute to intellectual and civic conversations that seek to improve governance and, above all, the lives of the governed,” he assured. He further pledged to champion principled debate and the exchange of ideas as tools to shape a better future for the country.
Concluding his letter, Anenih thanked PDP leaders and members for their support over the years, describing the journey as one filled with camaraderie and invaluable lessons. He wished the party success in its future endeavours, even as he took a decisive step away from the arena that had long defined his family’s political influence.
