Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented a brand-new Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) to popular gospel singer, broadcaster, and Chairman of Fresh FM 105.9, Yinka Ayefele, in the aftermath of a fire outbreak that ravaged his Music House complex in Ibadan. The building, which houses the radio station, was gutted by fire last Friday, destroying property worth several millions of naira.
Presenting the vehicle on behalf of the governor in Ibadan, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Otunba Ademola Ojo, commiserated with Ayefele, describing him as a resilient figure whose contributions to entertainment and media development in Oyo State and Nigeria remain invaluable. He noted that the gesture was a demonstration of the governor’s solidarity and support during a difficult time.
Ayefele, who has been counting his losses since the incident, was visibly touched by the governor’s intervention. The presentation took place at the Ayefele Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, where the commissioner delivered the governor’s goodwill message and symbolically handed over the keys to the SUV. Governor Makinde, through his representative, lauded the broadcaster’s perseverance and described him as an inspiration to millions of Nigerians.
Speaking during the presentation, Ojo said, “On behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde and the Oyo State Government, we are here to commiserate with you. You are a symbol of perseverance and inspiration to millions of Nigerians. This gift is a token of support as you continue to rebuild after the unfortunate incident.”
It would be recalled that Governor Makinde had personally visited the Music House a day after the inferno to sympathise with Ayefele and to assess the extent of the damage. The recent donation, the government explained, was part of its commitment to encouraging citizens who continue to make significant contributions to the state’s growth despite challenges.
