AS Roma have bolstered their attack with the signing of Jamaican international winger Leon Bailey on a season-long loan from Aston Villa, the Italian club announced on Wednesday. The agreement includes an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the 2025/26 campaign for a reported €22 million ($25.6m, £19m).

Bailey, 28, joins Roma after four years in the Premier League, where he became a key figure for Aston Villa. During his time at Villa Park, the forward registered 22 goals in 144 appearances across all competitions, helping the club establish itself as a strong contender domestically and in Europe.

The move marks a new chapter for Bailey, who previously impressed at Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga before making the switch to England in 2021. Known for his pace, dribbling, and eye for goal, the Jamaican is expected to add width and creativity to Roma’s frontline under new coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

Roma are aiming to secure a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2018, and Bailey’s arrival is seen as part of a broader effort to strengthen the squad for both Serie A and European competition. The Giallorossi begin their league campaign this weekend with a home clash against Bologna.

Bailey, who has also represented Jamaica at international level with distinction, will wear Roma’s colors as he looks to reignite his career in Italy and help the capital club achieve their ambitions in the new season.
