The Anambra State Government has taken decisive action against eight operatives of the Agunechemba Security outfit who brutally assaulted and publicly stripped a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Miss Jennifer Elobor. The operatives were dismissed and handed over to the police for prosecution, according to Ken Emeakayi, Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security.

The incident, which occurred in July 2025, sparked widespread outrage on social media after a video showing the operatives storming the corps members’ lodge, beating and stripping Elobor naked, went viral. Despite pleas for a quiet resolution from the victim’s family and NYSC officials, the state government insisted on full accountability, describing the case as a deterrent to others.

Emeakayi emphasized that the Soludo administration would not tolerate unprofessionalism, brutality, or abuse of office by security operatives. “Any officer found guilty of misconduct will face immediate dismissal and prosecution,” he stated. The government has already settled Elobor’s medical bills, replaced her damaged valuables, including a laptop and phone, and issued a public apology to her family, the NYSC, and the general public.

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that the operatives have been identified and will face prosecution. The police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, warned vigilante groups against using brutality and abuse of authority during operations, emphasizing that any form of assault is a criminal offense under Nigerian law.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has condemned the assault on its member, describing it as “unacceptable and dehumanizing.” The NYSC management has expressed its commitment to the welfare and security of corps members nationwide and is working to assist Elobor in managing the physiological and psychological trauma resulting from the incident.
